Fried green tomatoes, just like the film. They’re a great way of using up green tomatoes at the end of the season. A bit calorific but a delicious autumnal treat.
Fine Bread Crumbs
Cut the green tomatoes into thick slices. For best results lay the slices on kitchen roll for a few minutes to absorb some of the moisture.
Dip tomato slices in flour seasoned with salt and pepper, then dip in the beaten egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.
Fry until golden on both sides.
Try adding different herbs and spices to the seasoned flour.
